A place to put things
Why this site exists, and what will end up on it.
Most of what I think gets said out loud. In a meeting, on a call, on someone else’s podcast. Then it is gone. The argument was fine at the time and nobody can check it later, including me.
Writing is slower and less forgiving. A claim on a page has to survive being read twice. That is the whole reason for this site.
What goes here
Long thoughts that do not fit anywhere else. Mostly three subjects:
- Networks. What it costs to move information, and why that cost is so badly understood.
- Markets. What happens to price when the distance between two venues gets shorter.
- The work of building things, including the parts that did not work.
I would rather be wrong in public than vague in private. When I get something wrong I will say so on the page, not quietly edit it out.
How it works
Every post is a markdown file in a git repository. No CMS, no drafts trapped in someone else’s database. If a post changes, the change is in the history.
There is no newsletter. There is a feed.
